Throughout the last several years, immigrants in the United States (particularly those who have crossed the Southern US border) have experienced an unprecedented level of community-level and individual trauma. For frontline attorneys, psychologists, advocates, and survivors of the crisis, there are unique political and social circumstances that fuel trauma.
Despite what we see in the media, the immigration enforcement crisis has affected all corners of the country, even Kansas City. Co-facilitated by Trinidad Raj Molina, Board Member of Advocates for Immigrant Rights and Reconciliation, we will discuss how compassionate fatigue, trauma and vicarious trauma, and resilience affects the immigration advocacy community in Kansas City and elsewhere.
Alive and Well Ambassadors and community residents from all walks of life are welcome to join our conversation. We invite folks to read these two optional articles from the American Psychological Association:
Tackling the Escalation Immigration Crisis
Compassion fatigue: A side effect of the immigration crisis
